A book in a shop, a nice home, a curious title, were the reasons that led me to choose The Elegance of the Hedgehog. It is fascinating open a book with the same excitement of having discovered a small treasure, hold hands and smell the pages. The Elegance of the Hedgehog seduced me from the first words. This author's delightful style makes the book is a good companion, giving a touch of grace, the daily routine.
The main characters emerge tenderness, and yet make us partakers of her emotions as if they were our own. The beautiful character of the concierge Renée, an intelligent woman, full of beautiful feelings and ideas, is hiding in a semblance of normal concierge, without motivation or interest in life, ie what is expected of her. It is an educated woman who enjoys books and conversations with her friend.
And what about the little Paloma, the student who keeps so many secrets inside. This daily movement of the world with psychological background, those ideas crushing about reality. A character who appears strong, mature for his young age, but with the passage of the chapters is discovering the true Paloma, which is hidden behind the shell of intellectuals, the simple girl that needs to be protected, and that is the beauty of existence in the small is insignificant things.
